The Batesville Pioneers ran their 5A-East District win string to 15 and save two plays, they showed signs of returning to their old dominating high school football team Friday night at Pioneer Stadium. While defeating Nettelton Raiders 38-12, the Pioneer offense rolled up 379 yards, rushing 379 yards and passing 126 yards, and the defense allowed 211 yards, two scores and gave up a score of its own. For the first time this season, the Pioneer offense and defense worked together to finish up on the positive side. Their plus-2 came about as the Radiers tured the ball over four times and the Pioneers two. Tackles Drew Moore and Bret Bell made for five of those with Bell making three. Kenton Crawford, who plays the safty postion called “hero” also notched three tackles for losses. On ofense the ofenseive line Jacob Lawrence, Gunnar Osborne, Garett Denton, and Ryan Sanders. At center though isnt a 100 percent, Ryan Sanders came back. Sanders was unable to play last week with an ankle sprain. This Friday night, he and sophomore John Howard sharded snaps. The Pioneers tailbacks trio were Joey Rodriguez, Eli Childress, and Kenton Crawford. And their duet of fullbacks, Javier Rodriguez and Tad Jones.The Pioneers also got good production out of seniors Athan Dockery and Jacob Hardin. Dockery caught five passes for 45 yards and ran the ball twice for 31. Hardin completed nine of seventeen passes for 126 yards and a touchdown. Hardin and Dockerys was a little forward flip as Dockery ran through the backfield and around the left for for 29 yards. On the next play, Dockery shifted from flanker to running back and took a conventional handoff from Hardin before sweeping the right end for 19 yards and a first down at the Nettelton 2-yard line. After the Raiders jumped offside on the point after kick, the Pioneers went for two points and Joey Rodriguez scored easily as the left side of the offensive line drove the Raiders back into the end zone. The Raiders second turnover running back Jared Little fumbled and Joey Rodriguez recovered set the Pioneers up on the Nettelton 35 with four minutes remaining. The Pioneers covered 51 yards in just four plays to score with their last possesion
